Wailua River Jungle Stream Kayak Adventure With Waterfalls Hike (Kayak/Hike)

Description

Meet at our Poipu shop for a kayak adventure deep into the heart of Kauai on the Wailua River to the shadow of Mt Wai'ale'ale. Learn about the unique food & medicinal plants that inhabit the river valley.

Then, we’ll tie our kayaks up & take off on a 1-mile hike up the valley to an amazing 100-foot waterfall. We'll sit on some big basalt boulders at the bottom of the pool and have a picnic lunch, and then hike back down to our kayaks for more fun paddling!

As we pass through this spectacular valley by kayak and on foot, your guide will be sharing the mana'o (knowledge) of the island. Learn about the history of ancient Kauai and how the Ali'i (royalty) & Maka'ainana (common people) lived and played here.

The return trip is downstream, but we will be headed into the tradewinds, so you'll be getting a bit of a workout on this leg of the journey. After exploring, swimming & kayaking - we'll take you by van back to our Poipu tour center!

It was our first time kayaking, and we really had a great time! The tour guide was very helpful, informative, and kept an eye on all of us at all times. He let us go our own pace. One suggestion is extending the time spent at the waterfall. It felt like we just got there and ate quickly and had to hurry up and go back. Even though the tour info states 7 hours, the total time was actually 5-1/2. We would have like to spend a little longer at the waterfall relaxing and enjoying the view.

The tour was fun, not over taxing. Our guide was excellent stopping to explain the fauna and flora, etc. of the area. The lunch was excellent, the swimming in the waterfall was fun also. Very enjoyable. The kayaking was made very easy by good basic instruction by the guide.

Our tour guide was one of the most impressive banks of knowledge about the flora of Kauai. I've never been on a hike like that and will always remember it! I think it would be a good idea to recommend some kind of gloves for the kayaking part, for those vacationers who rarely work with their hands.
